Why is my headliner coming down?

A headliner is a contoured board made of polystyrene, ABS or fiberglass that is covered with a foam-backed cloth

Here are some photos of new and old foam-backed headliner fabric:

New headliner foam and fabric                                        Old, deteriorated foam backing

Over time, the foam backing deteriorates, turning into a powder and causing the cloth to detach from the headliner board.
People have tried many things to put the fabric back up,
and there are products being sold such as push pins, and other temporary fixes, but there is only
one correct way to repair a sagging headliner. These temporary fixes will only make it harder to fix when you decide to do it the right way

The correct way to fix this is to remove the headliner board from the car, take of all the old material and clean it well.
Once that is done, we glue new foam-backed material on, and reinstall the headliner in the car. The process rarely takes more than one day.
